Aruba is unique among the Caribbean islands. The Dutch influence gives the island an International feel with multi-lingual locals, luxury resorts and shopping, and US dollars accepted everywhere. Aruba has soft sand beaches on the western shores and rocky desert landscapes along the other coasts.
On a recent trip to Riviera Maya, Cancun on the Mexican Caribbean seashore, my family of four (two children ages 3 and 6) had the extreme pleasure of visiting Xel-Ha (pronounced shell-hah) and Xcaret (pronounced eesh-ca-ret). Even though we spent a full day at each location, we barely scratched the surface of fun activities. My advice to families who are planning a visit to Xel-Ha and Xcaret, treat it as you would Disneyland: give yourself at least two days per park.
Each volcano site has its own features that make it so unique. As a traveling family we like to visit them all, but if you can only pick one of the following top volcanoes to visit with kids, any one will do!
