Like a kid waiting for Christmas, I was eager to explore Jardin des Glaciers a complex filled with high tech multimedia presentations and various outdoor pursuits centered around the effects of glaciers on this part of Canada.
As a city girl, I don’t see a whole lot of wildlife, so I was excited from the moment we arrived at Parc Omega. We fed carrots to animals from our car and saw many different animals in a setting that resembles their native habitat.
Luckily, thanks to the glaciers which dominated the North American continent 20,000 years ago, approximately 1000 belugas live in the St. Lawrence River near the village of Tadoussac and the Saguenay Fjord in Québec, making a trip to see the belugas a reality for thousands of families every year.
Recently though, this city girl stepped out of her comfort zone and into the beautiful world of Outaouais in Western Quebec and I’m so glad I did- what an experience!
