Hi, my name is Sharlene Earnshaw, the CEO and Editor in Chief of Trekaroo. I joined Trekaroo in 2010 and have been a blogger and journalist in the family travel space since 2007.
I was first attracted to the world of blogging because I was a mother of infant twins and I wanted to show others that if I could travel with two young kids and expose them to many adventures that would shape their lives, then so could they! I received my degree in Communications from UC Davis is 2000 and have had a passion for writing since I learned to use a #2 pencil many moons ago.
I am proud to have been featured as a top family travel writer by USA Today and have been featured in the Orange County Register, Huffington Post, CBS LA, MSNBC, Backpacker Magazine, and countless other publications over the years. I have also had the joy of working as a writer for some of my local tourism bureaus, Destination Irvine and Visit Anaheim, as well as providing my expertise on many projects including building family travel tourism in Peru and family-focused articles for Vail Resorts.
I have worked with the biggest players in the family travel industry including Disney Resorts, Disney Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Marriott, Hilton, Adventures by Disney, KOA, Visit Britain, Visit Norway, Visit California, Visit Florida, and so many more amazing organizations than I have space to list.
I currently live in Orange County, CA with my husband, twin son and daughter (who are now Seniors in high school!), three rescue dogs, and one rescue cat. My favorite things (besides travel) are the San Francisco 49ers, animal rescue, Mexican food, being outside, being crafty, and my ridiculously large crystal and mineral collection.
Katie Bodell is a Trekaroo contributor, a freelance writer, a happy wife to her best friend, and a mom to three sweet California girls. She loves the Bible, learning & research, musical theater, indy music, artsy films, languages, and diverse cultural encounters. Her husband is thankful that google can now answer all of her perpetual random questions.
Hi, I’m Kristine Dworkin, one of Trekaroo’s writers. I joined Trekaroo in 2012, and it was my first venture into the world of travel blogging.
My family has been traveling since our kids were very small. Many have thought we were crazy for hopping on planes with little kids. My response to that is, “There’s a handle on the infant carrier, so you can take them with you!”
I wanted to tell travel stories because one of my children is on the autism spectrum, and I wanted to show other families that a diagnosis like that did not necessarily mean a life of being homebound. I’m proud to report that my son has a passport full of stamps; it just took a little extra preparation to get him into the world.
I received my degree in Journalism from San Francisco State University in 1990. I have a vast writing background that includes newspaper reporting, web content for high-tech companies, and feature writing.
I have frequently collaborated and contributed to other family travel blogs, including the Hilton Hotel blogs, Hilton MomVoyage, and Hilton Suggests. Visit California named me a Digital Feature Entry Winner for my story titled, “Silicon Valley Tour – Adventures for Geeks of all Ages.” I am also the leader of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of Travel Massive, a travel community connecting thousands of tourism professionals, travel media, creators, and startups from around the world.
I live in Mountain View, CA, with my husband and son. I also have a daughter, who is in college. While we currently don’t have any pets, we will soon adopt a golden retriever through a rescue organization. My favorite things (besides travel) are spy novels, hanging out at the San Francisco Presidio, Greek food, wandering through bookstores, plants, and my greenhouse.
Hello, I’m Sharon Nolan. I have been writing in the family travel space since 2009 when I joined Trekaroo and began writing about things my small children and I were doing. I liked seeking out things to help us fill our days with fun and adventure. It made a difference when others spoke about whether the activity was worth doing and what to expect, so I took the time to do the same. Things grew from there.
I have always been interested in both writing and travel, having received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in writing from Penn State University. While at first it seemed impossible to be able to travel with three young children, as I started taking bigger and bigger steps and remembering to be flexible and have fun, it got easier, and was incredibly enjoyable to share the world with my kids. We have been to other towns, other countries and other continents together.
My work has been published in USA Today’s 10Best, AAA The Extra Mile, The Chicago Tribune, The Expedition, NJ Family and sister publication Raising Teens, as well as various other online publications. I continue to explore new places to share my experiences, and find joy in the fact that my now-officially-adult children have made travel a welcome part of their lives.
I reside in Bucks County, PA, just outside Philadelphia. My kids and I still talk about the many places we have visited and the experiences we have had over the years. I love to bike, hike, kayak, eat Greek food, sushi, listen to podcasts and watch Penn State Football.

Hello, I'm Tiffany Vaughn, a passionate family travel writer at Trekaroo. My journey with Trekaroo began over a decade ago when I started contributing reviews, and since 2015, I've been crafting blog articles that inspire families to explore the world together.
My love for storytelling led me to earn a bachelor's degree in Communications from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2003. In 2008, when my husband’s job required frequent travel, I refused to be left behind. With my toddlers in tow, we set off on adventures, discovering family-friendly attractions and activities along the way. Trekaroo became an invaluable resource for us, helping me navigate travel with young children. Once I gained experience, I felt compelled to share my insights with other families embarking on similar journeys.
As a mother of five, I’ve embraced the joys and challenges of traveling with children of all ages and consider myself an expert in multigenerational travel, large family adventures, and finding the best travel deals.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous tourism organizations, hotels, and travel brands, helping to highlight incredible family-friendly destinations. I’ve worked with local tourism bureaus in Phoenix, New Orleans & Baton Rouge, Denver, Greater Zion, Portland, Oakland, Salt Lake City and many more cities, as well as major travel brands like Margaritaville, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Dark Rome, LEGOLAND California, Walt Disney World, and Great Wolf Lodge. Through these partnerships, I provide firsthand insights and expert recommendations to help families make the most of their travel experiences.
I currently live in Phoenix, Arizona, with my husband and our five kids (ages 10–19). When I’m not traveling, I love hiking, reading, and substitute teaching at my kids’ schools.
