Troo American Road Trip explores Rocky Mountain National Park – Day 4

Today, we were officially WOWed by Rocky Mountain National Park and the gateway town of Estes Park, Colorado is an amazing family destination. My 6 kids (ages 7-12) spent a full day in the park today, starting with the most beautiful hike I think I have ever taken in my life – up to Nymph Lake and Dream Lake.

We then had a little picnic lunch right next to the Big Thompson River, before we hopped on horses at Sombrero Ranch at Snow Mountain Ranch,YMCA for a 2-hour trail ride in the park. We were a bit sore afterwards- but rallied to tackle the Trail Ridge Road, traveling as far as the Alpine Visitor’s Center to drink in the views. And of course, do a little souvenir shopping! We saw an elk herd on the way back down… and two of them had the most enormous antlers! It was amazing!
