Monday Madness: Win an Outdoor Vacation in Idaho’s Panhandle

(Last Updated On: March 31, 2017)

Win an Idaho Family Vacation

Want to know our secret for finding an adventurous yet family-friendly way to spend your vacation? Head to Idaho. Filled with scenic lakes and rivers, majestic mountains and miles of forest, Idaho is just far enough away from the beaten path to satisfy our need for outdoor adventure while still providing upscale and kid-friendly lodging options, inventive cuisine, and plenty of recreation.

We’ve explored this state from the southern plains and other-worldly Craters of the Moon to central Idaho’s high desert Salmon River and Northern Idaho’s heavily wooded panhandle, with its lake and ski resorts. We’ve loved it all, whether we’re camping, road tripping, or skiing.

Sponsor Spotlight – Visit Idaho

idahoIt’s not just a getaway it’s a adventure in living. There’s mountain biking, jet boating, fishing, theme parks, and golf to keep the whole family smiling. We have outdoor music festivals, hot springs, scenic byways, and if you like excitement, bring the crew to experience our 3,000 miles of whitewater rivers waterways. You can also take your taste buds on a culinary road trip to our wineries, resorts, farmers’ markets and breweries.

Learn what you can do in Idaho with your 18 summers!

Family playtime in Kellogg and Wallace

One of our favorite Idaho playgrounds is located just one hour from Spokane, Washington and 25 minutes from Coeur ‘d Alene along I-90. Kellogg and Wallace are both little towns with big history, with roots dating back to Idaho’s mining past, now steeped in outdoor recreation. Wallace is home to the Route of the Hiawatha bike trail, and Kellogg hosts Silver Mountain ski resort, which transforms from a site for winter mountain sports to a summer destination with hiking trails, biking, and swimming and water play year-round.

Families staying in Wallace during the summer can take a shuttle to the Hiawatha trail for a day of mountain bike riding on car-free paths. Shuttles and bike rentals are found at nearby Lookout Pass ski resort (a favorite of ours in the winter months). In adjacent Kellogg, Silver Rapids indoor waterpark awaits Silver Mountain resort guests. This huge indoor area includes a surf rider, wave pool, waterslides, and water playgrounds, all wrapped around my kids’ favorite feature: a lazy river. This waterpark is open year-round, making a day in the water possible after skiing in winter or to cool off after biking in summer. We love the location right at the base of the Silver Mountain gondola, very near the heart of historic Kellogg.

I’d like to visit Craters of the Moon National Monument. My husband and son are sort of obsessed with space and volcanoes, so I think they would love it!
