Monday Mad Steals: Free tickets to Finian’s Rainbow on Broadway

finiansrainbowcoverFinian’s Rainbow is a new Broadway Musical in New York City that has it all. This musical will make you laugh, cry, and dance as you watch this memorable fairy tale played out in a brilliant spectrum of color. The story is centered around an Irishman Finian McLonergan and his daughter Sharon who travel to a small Southern town in the mythical state of Missitucky with plans to bury a stolen pot of gold in the shadows of Fort Knox on the mistaken belief it will grow and multiply.

“A perfect musical for kids 10 and over, who enjoy musical comedy and are enthralled more by the art of acting and music than shows and high tech spectacles.”  – nycitymama (Full review of Finian’s Rainbow for families)

The magic of musical theatre began for me when we entered the magnificentand exotic New York City Center. I was 9 and my father took my older sister and I to see The King and I.
The gowns and costumes were heavenly and I remember being thrilled by watching all the young children. What a great first show, and music you could sing all your life. I would love to take my grandchildren to a “first” show especially with such familiar music.

I remember sitting in my grandma’s living-room watching “Singing in the Rain”. My kids now love that musical too.

My favorite show growing up was The Wizard of Oz. I’ve participated in choir since the 7th grade and still love listening to Judy Garland’s voice. This would be a great prize to win!

I always loved Mary Poppins. Still do and I hope to catch it on Broadway one of these days!

I took my son to see the Lion King last year and he was mesmerized. I’d love to take him to another show.

I saw Annie on Broadway as a child – seats right up front, then taken on a backstage tour by a relative who was a police officer in the area. Definitely an experience that has stayed with me over the years!

In the mid 1970s my grandmother took my sister and I for a visit to New York. I couldn’t believe how big and busy it was. She took us to a matinee of Shenandoah. I still remember how deep and strong and just amazing the lead singer’s voice was (I looked it up just now at it was John Cullum who was nominated for a Tony for the show. The play was set in Virginia during the Civil War and was about how the father tried to keep his family out of the war but in the end lost so much. I don’t remember any one song just how powerful the whole show was and the great time I had on that adventure with my grandma. To this day I love to see shows when I can and would love to take my daughter.

I have always wanted to see a broadway show, but have not had the opportunity. This would be a great opportunity to take my boys! I saw Mary Poppins on Live with Regis and Kelly this morning and it looked phenomenal. I also saw the Lion King and The Wizard of Oz advertised and they both looked amazing as well. Thanks for the chance!
