KidCo Go-Pod: The Infant Activity Center for Families On-the-Go

Traveling with babies can be tricky especially when it comes to safety, cleanliness, and keeping new crawlers and walkers occupied on the go. KidCo has come up with a great product that does all three: the Go-Pod.

The Go-Pod is a collapsible, portable activity center for babies 4 months to walking. Its frame and polyester seat are akin to a steel folding camping chair. The fabric can be cleaned with a damp cloth. It opens up to the size of the normal stationary activity center, but folds down to the size of a folding chair. It even comes with its own carrying case complete with a small pocket to stow keys etc. and a carrying strap.

I tried out the Go-Pod in my home, and also on-the-go at both indoor and outdoor locations.

Portability: When I had my first child, I would actually take his favorite bouncer with us when visiting the grandparents, friends, the beach, etc. It took up tons of room in the car, and was just awkward to lug into where we wanted it to go. However, the Go-Pod makes occupying a little one easy no matter where the family is. The Go-Pod weighs 7lbs, and with the carrying case’s strap, is easy to sling over a shoulder to head out to fun.  It takes just a few seconds to set up, take down and store. In addition, this would be great for families who live in small places and don’t want their living spaces over-taken by baby products 24/7.

Safety: We tend to spend a lot of time tent camping in the summer. This Go-Pod provides a safe place to put baby while cooking, spending time around the campfire, or setting up camp. It would do the same so baby can watch mommy or daddy cook in the kitchen or at older brother’s soccer game. The Go-Pod keeps baby busy while happily standing.

Customizable Features: The Go-Pod has several loops for attaching toys. This is a big hit as babies tend to like different toys as they age. I’ll always be able to make sure that my baby’s favorite toy of the moment can come with us. The Go-Pod can be raised to four different heights and will grow with the child. My 5 month old son is just able to touch at the lowest level, so I know that he will be able to enjoy the Go-Pod for a long time. I also appreciated that the Go-Pod also has a drink and a snack holder. This is great for older infants and young toddlers!

Floor Pad: This is genius!!! Very few activity centers, bouncers, jumpers etc. have floors. Since the Go-Pod is designed to be used in multiple locations that may not maintain the same cleanliness as your home, the floor ensures that your baby’s feet aren’t directly in contact with anything that may be hiding in the hotel room floor, sand, or park grass.

This is more of an FYI than a con. The fabric slopes down from the four legs to the seat. From the pictures, it can look as though the Go-Pod creates a tight, flat surface like a table. But, it does not. If you are looking for a table for the baby, this wouldn’t work for you. While I wouldn’t let my baby self-feed spaghetti in it, it should be just fine for finger snacks like Cheerios or goldfish.

Bottom Line:

The Go-Pod is a really, great asset for the family who needs a portable infant activity center.  We keep ours in the back of the car so it’s on hand wherever we go.
