Places We Love

  • California: Oroville is a hidden gem in Northern CA that my family and I fell in love with last summer. While fairly unknown, we loved visiting this beautiful piece of Earth that feels more like a secret than some of the more popular outdoor destinations. Sisily Calvert – Southern California Guroo
  • California: My kids love Dog Beach in Del Mar as much as the playful dogs there do. Sea caves, hidden crabs, and warm sunshine make this beach ideal. Michelle McCoy – Southern California Guroo
  • California: Places like the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe make me wonder what I’ve been doing my whole life that I’m just now seeing such incredible piece of America that’s practically in my backyard. I’ve already booked two days to return in August so that we can enjoy it in the summer. Tina Buell – Northern California Guroo
  • Colorado: The little resort village of Beaver Creek tucked high up the mountain just stole our hearts with their wide variety of family-friendly outdoor adventure activities and fabulous food. We can’t wait to revisit our new love again and discover more about it! Cindi Brothers – Colorado Guroo
  • Hawaii: My family loves everything connected to Hawaii’s Big Island and each time we visit, we find more to love. All of us harbor fantasies of pulling up stakes and taking up surfing. If a day comes when you realize you haven’t seen us around the Silicon Valley, come look for us in Kona! Kristine Dworkin – Northern California Guroo
  • New Jersey: Grounds for Sculpture is the perfect place to introduce the kids to art without the confines of museum walls. Large sculptures are placed around the beautifully landscaped grounds for all to explore and enjoy. Beth Keklak – NJ/PA/DE Guroo
  • Oregon: I had to deduct a star from my rating of the Five Pine Lodge just because the place was too romantic, and we had our kids with us! This beautiful lodge happily welcomes kids even as it exudes romance, from their meticulously landscaped grounds, to their luxuriously exotic cabin accommodations. Ann Anderson – Utah Guroo
  • Oregon: Seriously, my family is madly in love with Cosmic tubing at Mt. Hood’s SkiBowl. It is a ton of fun flying down the hill on a tube with flashing lights and lasers all around, as well as party music playing over loudspeakers. Carrie Yu – OR & WA Guroo
  • Pennsylvania: This past summer our family visited Pittsburgh for the first time. Nicknamed Kidsburgh, it lived up to its name and we fell in love with the family oriented attractions. I hope your family falls in love with Pittsburgh too! Beth Keklak – NJ/PA/DE Guroo
  • Utah: Canyonlands National Park is the ideal place to propose marriage. I know, because this is where hubby popped the question to me. The remoteness of this national park almost guarantees that couples will find a deserted yet panoramic viewpoint with an amazing sunset. Ann Anderson – Utah Guroo
  • Vermont: We fell in love with Vermont so much so that I actually entertained picking the family up and moving there. The mountain air, friendly faces, many great activities and animal adventures made our family pine for more. Michelle Brennan – New England Guroo
  • Virginia: The living city of Colonial Williamsburg is one of our favorite places to explore. In addition the city is near the beach, there are some amazing accommodation options, you can enjoy some tasty, southern cuisine, and the locals are super friendly! Amanda Rodriguez – Washington D.C. Guroo
  • Washington: Locally sourced, delicious food in a family-friendly environment? What’s not to love! WildFin American Grill was the perfect oasis to find delicious food including offering kids smaller portions of most of the grown-up dishes. Carrie Yu – OR & WA Guroo
