Best Family Ski Resorts Poll Winners Announced

Best Family Ski Resorts

During last October’s Ski Week, we asked skiing and snowboarding families to vote for their favorite ski resorts. Our Best Family Ski Resorts poll–which highlighted over 48 resorts in 18 categories–took off, gaining almost 3,000 votes from readers, ski resort fans, and ski communities across the US and Canada. Just in time for the 2015 ski season, the results are in!

The following list of winners should be on your shortlist for a family vacation this winter. Want a ski trip perfect for teens? We have a top pick for that! Looking to ski with little ones? We have you covered. No matter what type of skier or snowboarder you are, Trekaroo has a tried-and-true recommendation. Be sure to read all the way through, as there are some surprises in store!

General ski resort picks, by kids’ ages and abilities:

Every family is different, which is why Trekaroo polled readers on their favorite resorts in a wide variety of categories. Whether you have toddlers putting on their first pair of skis or teens ripping it up in the terrain park, you’ll find the top picks below. Because the best resort for beginners is not always the best resort for experts!

Have you been here? Leave your family’s review of Big Sky!

Resort picks based on snow and terrain:

If you only get one major ski vacation this winter, you want to make sure you’ll have snow. No, we can’t predict the weather, but thanks to your input as readers, we can recommend resorts that consistently get more snow than average. You probably don’t want to wait in lift lines, either. We’ve got your back. Have snowboarders in your midst? We know where they’ll be happiest.

Have you been here? Leave your family’s review of Alta!

Have you been here? Leave your family’s review of Snowbird!

Resorts that go beyond snow:

Maybe Grandma doesn’t ski, or Dad hates being cold. Perhaps you have babies or toddlers who need entertaining during ski days. Whatever your situation, the following resorts offer vacation experiences off the slopes, allowing for a more well-rounded ski trip. Grab a snow tube or your ice skates!

Have you been here? Leave your family’s review of Vail!

Have you been here? Leave your family’s review of Sugar Bowl!

Resorts based on budget category:

Whether you’re looking to save money on your ski destination this winter, or are planning to splurge on a luxury experience, your ski trip planning starts with expectations. Knowing what to expect–and where to find it–is key to a happy and budget-friendly vacation…whatever that budget may be.

Hometown resorts, by region:

Trekaroo readers and ski enthusiasts sure do love their hometown resorts. Our four small resorts categories got more votes than the big mountain resorts, proving that families are passionate about their home ski hills. And they should be: small resorts are great places to learn, offer kids a true taste of the skier community, and are affordable for parents. Be sure to leave a review for yours!
