What do you do when mother nature sends you a chilly day of steady rain on your family vacation? Go on a whitewater rafting adventure of course! At least, that’s what we did at Adventures on the Gorge in West Virginia. Grey skies couldn’t stop the sunny smiles from our daughter as we enjoyed our kid-friendly guided rafting trip on the Upper New River.
Located in scenic Lansing, West Virginia, right on the New River canyon rim, Adventures on the Gorge offers a myriad of family activities in addition to great rafting. Think of it as an wilderness amusement park: rock climbing, kayaking, ziplining, and horseback riding are just a few of the experiences you can take part in. Swinging in the treetops on the TimberTrek aerial adventure course was a family favorite for us. Kids as young seven can enjoy this awesome “jungle gym in the treetops” with lots of obstacles and ziplines.
After a day in the treetops or on the river, coming home to relax in the hot tub on the porch of our secluded Adventures on the Gorge Deluxe Cabin was a real luxury. We also loved the beautiful two-tier swimming pool available to all Adventures on the Gorge guests. The beautiful campus, breathtaking outdoor scenery, and awesome staff made this a family vacation we will remember forever.
If you want to do more than just go with the flow on your next vacation, check out all the outdoor family fun that Adventures on the Gorge has to offer.
