Open to the public for over a year now, the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park is still ranked the second most popular attraction for families in San Francisco on Trekaroo. What’s not to like, it’s not only got an aquarium, but a planetarium, a natural history museum, and a 4-story rainforest all under one living roof.

You can use the following coupon for $5 off general admission for up to four person from the California Travel & Tourism Commission.

I love summer for three reasons: the heat, the heat, the HEAT! But, sometimes, it’s just too much to handle and I end up hanging out in the backyard, sitting in my 2 year old son’s inflatable pool.

This past weekend, I took the family to Aqua Adventure, the newest way to beat the heat in the San Francisco Bay Area. Opening less than a month ago, this is the city of Fremont’s newest and wettest attraction and we loved it. For less than $16 a person, you and your kids get to splash around their 3 pools, fly down any of their 5 waterslides, float along their lazy river or cool off in their kiddie waterspray area.

Our friend’s 6 year old son rated Aqua Adventures 5 stars and said, “There is a huge bucket that dumps water all over you.  All the kids scream and they run away whenever it dumps.  All the fountains spraying water makes you cool and feels like it’s raining on you really hard.  I liked it a lot!”

My 2 year old is still a bit afraid of the water and stayed away from the pool with the scary bucket and loud screaming. However, he really loved the spray fountains and the recreation pool. It’s a great place to go for a family daycation.

I was also able to sneak away for a quick ride down the enclosed waterpipe body slide in the Fortress of Fun. I screamed like a teenager and just enjoyed a thrilling, fast ride down the slide in unexpected, complete darkness. Simply awesome.
