THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATS TO NAN!!!! #5 WAS YOUR LUCKY NUMBER. ENJOY YOUR PRIZE.
The Tampa Bay area is a well known and beloved family vacation destination for many reasons. Located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the weather is ideal for all sorts of outdoor activities. The scenery is breathtaking and the Tampa International Airport makes this gateway city accessible to several world class beaches, arts and cultural organizations, professional sports teams, the Busch Gardens theme parks and so much more. One of the most amazing family friendly resorts on Florida’s Gulf Coast can be found nestled on over 900 acres at the Innisbrook Golf & Spa Resort in Palm Harbor. We stayed at Innisbrook over a long weekend and left the resort feeling re-energized and relaxed….almost as if we discovered that legendary Florida fountain of youth! Currently, Innisbrook is offering a variety of budget friendly family vacation specials including Florida resident discounts and a “Pass on your Gas Charges” package. Visit the Innisbrook website for additional information.
Getting to Innisbrook is a breeze. Located about 20 minutes from the airport, Innisbrook is a hidden gem in the heart of a busy city. Thanks to an intensive and environmentally sensitive renovation in 2008, Innisbrook offers guests an impressive combination of natural beauty and modern conveniences. There are nearly 30 two-story lodges scattered throughout the resort and all offer picturesque views of either the world famous golf courses, the nature preserve or Florida’s oak and pine canopies. We stayed on the second floor in a spacious, quiet one bedroom suite which had two flat-screen televisions with game ports, high speed Internet access, comfy linens and a large kitchen with all new appliances. Thankfully, there are free to use washer and dryers at each lodge building as well as ice machines.
The four golf courses are beautiful to see even if your family does not play golf. Although, if you do play golf or want to give it a try, these golf courses are fabulous! There are daily golf and tennis clinics to help get you started or tips to tweak your game. Something new this summer is the afternoon “Fox Squirrel” 9-hole walking course for kids and adults. Kids under 17 play free with a paying adult. Rental clubs are available for a small fee. Our preschooler had fun on the first few holes but then decided it was time to visit the family friendly Loch Ness pool and water slides. There is a zero-entry area and the pool gradually gets about four feet deep. We enjoyed a delicious, casual meal poolside at the Loch Ness grille and cooled off with some tasty frozen drinks.
The resort offers a complimentary beach shuttle to Dunedin’s world famous Honeymoon Island State Park. The white sand beaches are picture perfect and the gentle Gulf waters are warm and inviting. From Honeymoon Island, you can take the ferry over to visit Caladesi Island and embark on a three mile nature trail through the mangroves or swim, splash and look for shells along the pristine beaches.
Back at Innisbrook, we found plenty of tasty menu items to satisfy everyone in our family. The grownups savored classic menu favorites with a unique and flavorful twist at the Market Salamander Grille while the kiddos loved the pizza and hand dipped ice cream. For steak lovers, the Packard Steakhouse is an ideal choice.
My visit to the Indaba Spa was a special treat. I opted for a facial which was absolutely fantastic! The spa is a new addition to the Innisbrook Resort and would be an ideal getaway for the girls.
For sports fans, you can take in a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game. If the team is playing out of town, you can still take a behind the scenes tour of Tropicana Field in downtown St. Petersburg. You can also rent bikes, play tennis, basketball, miniature golf, volleyball or shuffleboard at the Innisbrook activity area.
Whether your family enjoys nonstop adventure or prefers a relaxed family getaway, the Innisbrook Resort has something wonderful to offer you. The only challenge will be deciding what to do first!

Congratulations to Tricia Andrews, comment number 140, for winning this amazing prize! Enjoy your time at the Breakers.
Some hotels are the stuff of legends. In Palm Beach, Florida there is no hotel more historic then The Breakers. Originally built back in 1896, and host to such famous names as the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts as well as many US Presidents, the hotel has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since the 1970s. The resort manages to combine opulent Italian Renaissance-style architecture and high class amenities to create a family friendly luxury destination.
On Friday, Lisa-Marie shared her family’s experience at the Breakers and spoke highly of its private beach club, many water activities, and delicious breakfast buffet at The Circle. Just the words beach, shopping, and food were enough to make me want to make my reservation and hop on a plane!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS TO COMMENTER NUMBER 47, CARRIE CONLEY. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR NEW BAG!
Having kids can be a back breaker. They start out as tiny 8lb bundles of heaven and quickly grow into giggly, squirmy, 20 lb weights. Sure we love to cuddle and hold them, but our body starts to suffer. And if carrying around a baby wasn’t taxing enough on our back, we are also expected to bring along a ton of gear any time we leave the house to keep the adorable little buggers happy.
There seems to be an endless array of diaper bags on the market, but Trekaroo is on a constant crusade to find the best of the best. This time, we wanted to find a bag that has room for everything a mom expects to carry when on a day trip but doesn’t end up sending us on an emergency trip to chiropractor. Ergonomic and stylish- is there really such a thing? Go Gaga says yes!

Go Gaga claims that their bags are stylish, functional, and ergonomic so we knew we needed to have one of our Superoos put it to the test. Superoo Brenda Gradek’s (aka Brendag) got the honor of testing out this fantastic bag. She wrote a great review of the bag, but I thought I would give you a sneak peak of her pros and cons:
Pros:
- Easy to use/versatile straps for the shoulder and the stroller
- Easy access insulated bottle pockets
- Adjustable interior divider
- Durable fabric, made from 72% recycled materials
Cons:
- Doesn’t sit flat on its own
- Difficult to get changing pad back into outside pocket
Want the full lowdown ? Read Brenda’s full review of the Go Gaga ergonomic messenger-style diaper bag.
The Steal: One lucky winner will receive a Go Gaga messenger bag in olive.
Number of winners: (1)

The winner selected by Random.org is #8. Congrats Michelle L!
Trash cans to zippo lighters, sweeping brooms to newspapers, there is no end to the creative use of unusual objects to make music and rhythm. Our somewhat non musical family left the performance of STOMP skipping (and gasp) dancing down the streets. To say the least, Stomp is infectious and inspiring. This many time Emmy Award winning show can be appreciated by anyone of any age because the show centers around rhythm, music and dance – something that speaks universally to any human being. However, you’ll be blown away that the artists behind STOMP have taken what is so fundamental to the human experience and elevated it to an unforgettable experience.
Recently, Trekaroo Superoo Carol Cain (NYCityMama) took her 10 year old son for the first time to watch a performance of STOMP on Broadway at New York City’s Orpheum Theatre.
“The energy of the music and of the artists on stage really draw in the audience of all ages. The scene encourages audience participation, something kids will also enjoy. As for my 12 year old, he didn’t move around in his seat as much as he did in my womb 12 years ago, but he did have a big smile – the same one I imagined he had each time I saw the show before he was born.”
