Monday Madness: Win a Kidco Peapod Tent

One of my favorite baby gear purchases of all time is our Kidco Peapod Tent.  We have the first generation version, but used it regularly until my son turned 4.  In fact, he slept better in his Peapod tent then in his crib in the first couple months of his life.  The Peapod Tent has changed our family’s travel experience for the better because it is so portable.  So, we’re very excited to be giving away a Kidco Peapod Tent P203 – the newest model complete with self inflating mattress.   You’ll totally understand why we love it so much the next time you start packing for your trip.

Recently, Carrie Yu (aka AdorablyConfused) took it for a spin and here’s her report in a nutshell.

kidco peapod tent

Pros:

  • Good for use for birth through age 6
  • Can be used outdoor (provides UV protection)
  • Door can be closed with or without the screen or folded up for easy access
  • Very lightweight
  • Folds up to a very small size, so easy to store and travel with
  • Easy to set up and take down
  • Throw a dark sheet over and easily create a “dark room”
  • Sells for ~$85-100, so is an affordable option

Cons:

  • Can be knocked over from inside or outside
  • Air mattress requires additional inflating on this model

When she was about 5 months old my daughter would fall asleep in her jumperoo!

After Christmas Eve services in Missouri, my weary-from-traveling 7yo fell asleep on the bench in the hotel room while waiting for us to open the hide-a-bed. He wasn’t even interested in the milk and cookies the hotel had left for us.

The strangest place Caleb fell asleep would have to be in a kayak in Morro Bay, CA. We were trying out our new 3 seater and the little guy must have relaxed a little too much. Next thing we knew, he was out! :)

My youngest fell asleep on the bathroom floor at Grandma’s house. When I bent down to pick him up, I had to admit that the carpet was very soft. But the bathroom floor?!?!

My 2 year old fell asleep in the back of our Polaris Ranger, tipping his head onto the 4 point harness, while off-roading. It was the bumpiest trip we’d taken, yet he managed to dose off in spite of the blazing sun above us and the rocks rattling the ride.

  12. Kim June 28, 2010 at 1:57 pm #

Mine fell asleep at church. In the dark cryroom, I managed to get the cushion from the bench onto the floor and set him down on it. He slept for the rest of the service, and I kept waving to people to look at him through the window. He was so adorable. He woke up when he rolled over and fell off the cushion.

My son fell asleep in the dentist’s chair. He must have been lulled to sleep by the sound of the toothbrush. A couple of months later, he fell asleep while my hairdresser was cutting his hair. Then, at the next six-month checkup, he fell asleep AGAIN in the dentist’s chair! This kid has no trouble relaxing at naptime!

  15. Michelle June 29, 2010 at 1:14 pm #

My son had to have an MRI when he was about 10 months old and the anesthesia hadn’t worn off. When we got home, he started playing in the pantry, making a mess of pretzels and I noticed it got very quiet. He found a towel and passed out on top of it amidst all of the pretzels all over the floor :)

My uncle took us to an Olive Garden Restaurant when we were visiting. My daughter was exhausted from a long day and spent the whole two hours curled up on her chair sleeping.

One time my little boy was so exhausted he fell asleep over the step between the garage and the house – hysterical.

My daughter and I flew to another state to see a good friend of mine. She didn’t sleep a wink on the airplane, but when we got to the transit system that is loud in itself, and even louder because it’s full of talking people, she fell fast asleep on my friend’s lap, facing towards the people. It was hilarious.

This may sound gross but we were in the middle of moving and my son was no where to be found he was 18 months old at the time my husband and I had just came back from the store and had gotten the cat a new litter box we looked all over for him and then and there he was on the front patio curled up in the new litter box with a feather duster in his hand .. (too cute) guess he just wanted to use it before the cat .

Unfortunately I don’t have any wild or weird stories about where our little guy has slept (he’s 22 months). Just the usual pack n’ plays, cribs, in baby carriers, in cars and on airplanes!! Boring as all get out which is why we need the peapod :-)

The Peapod is a work of genius!!! I like it on FB as well!!!
