I think every kid should see the world’s largest something. Whether it’s a twine ball, or buffalo, or Eiffel tower with cowboy hat, it’s fun for kids to see something really big.

Every kid should see the beautiful white sandy Gulf Coast beaches. We love the Gulf Island National Seashore.

I think a day at any of the California State Beaches just building sandcastles with a bunch of friends could provide a lot of fun, outdoor exposure, and socialization for all involved.

My children have been making their own list for years now. It is called: Sites I have seen on TV or read about it in books and that I can not wait to see in person,

Thanks everyone for your replies! So many places so still venture out to. Glad that I’ve got such well-traveled moms like you all to help figure out what should be at the top of the list.
Lydie – I love it! I’ll have to wait for O-dogg to grow up a bit because his list is just the garbage dump, a construction site and fire stations.

Thanks for this great discussion starter! My DH and I would probably choose different places. I’d choose to visit lots of our wonderful National Parks to give her a lifelong appreciation of our beautiful country.

Lydie’s idea is great! I’ll have my preschooler start making her list of sites to visit. Thanks for sharing that tip! I’d like for our daughter to see some of the amazing natural wonders found in our National Parks. My fondest memories are of times spent at parks with my parents.

I want to take my kids to the Grand Canyon. I haven’t been myself and would love to experience it together for the first time. I also like Lydie’s idea of having the kids create their own list.

I think the national parks are true gems and should definately be on the top 100 list.

I think San Francisco and NYC have to be on the list. So much culture! And of course I would have every National Park on there. Also- I think driving down both the Pacific and Atlantic Coasts would be a great thing to add to the list. There are few things more spectacular than the views on Hwy 1 in California.

I think every child should travel to a country other than their own. This way they grow up realizing that there are other cultures, traditions, people, places and all are vastly different (and how great that is). I think it gives them a different perspective of life and people and they grow up more tolerant and appreciative.
