Chicago is a town of extreme weather for sure. When winter storms finally melt, the sun is blazing hot. One of Trekaroo’s Superoos – asmpman – lives in illinois and loves exploring with her kids. Here is her list of their family’s favorite places to cool off for cheap or free around Chicago. If you’re heading out to Chicago, you can’t beat having a list like this from a local mom. Having fun on vacation doesn’t always have to cost a pretty penny.
1. Splash Park Glen Ellyn
845 Pershing Avenue
Glen Ellyn, Illinois

I want to say the bottom is concrete on the splash pad, which isn’t the most ideal bottom when the kids slip. But most of the time, they don’t. Not much shady areas in the water area itself, but there’s a covered area with picnic tables where the bathrooms are. I also liked that the wristbands were redeemable at Panera Bread for a free kid’s meal if you bought an adult meal item and they didn’t expire until that fall.
2. The Hub Splash Park
493 Oaklawn Ave
Elmhurst, Illinois
3. Pyrce Park and splash pad
1619 Wesley Avenue
Berwyn, Illinois
4. Children’s waterpark at Freedom Park
3701 Scoville Avenue
Berwyn, Illinois
5. Ty Warner Park
Plaza Drive and Blackhawk Drive
Westmont, Illinois
6. Millenium Park
201 E. Randolph Street
Chicago, Illinois
7. BrookField Zoo
3300 Golf Road
Brookfield, Illinois
